SHAH ALAM, 8–9 September 2026 - Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), through the Smart Manufacturing Research Institute (SMRI), organised the Advanced Microsoft Excel for Research Data Analytics programme at the Smart Classroom, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, UiTM Shah Alam. The two-day programme was designed to strengthen the digital competency of SMRI Fellows and UiTM Research Officers in managing, cleaning, analysing and presenting research data more systematically using advanced Microsoft Excel functions.
The programme was delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Aman Mohd Ihsan Mamat, Director of SMRI, and covered practical applications ranging from basic Excel functions and formulations to data collection, data cleaning and data matching. Participants were also introduced to the organisation, formatting and design of Pivot Tables, providing a structured approach to summarising and analysing research datasets. The hands-on emphasis was intended to improve data-processing efficiency, reduce manual errors and support more consistent and reliable research workflows.
The second day focused on advanced Pivot Table applications, graph generation, graph formatting and effective presentation of research data. By strengthening these practical analytical skills, the programme supports faster preparation of research reports, improved data visualisation and higher-quality research outputs. The initiative also reflects SMRI’s continuing commitment to enhancing researchers’ digital capabilities and supporting UiTM’s broader agenda for data-driven, efficient and high-impact research.
